Amanda is a MD native, growing up in Frederick County. She graduated from Hood College with Bachelor’s degrees in Special Education and Psychology. She also holds a master’s degree in Reading Instruction from McDaniel College. Amanda taught in Carroll County Public Schools as a special education teacher for almost 20 years, teaching Pre-K-12 over her career. She is trained in the Wilson Reading Program and Fundations, as well as multiple research-based reading, writing, and math interventions. This is Amanda’s sixth year at St. James’ and her third as Director. Amanda and her husband live in Sykesville, have two sons, and a chocolate lab named Gunner. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys watching her boys’ sporting events, routing for the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens, spending time with extended family, and catching up with friends.
